Synopsis

September 28th is the first night of Genius Loci 2023 edition VI. Once again this year Santa Croce welcomes musicians, actors and performers from distant places and heterogeneous contexts to its evocative spaces. The evening of the 28th is like the beginning of an ideal journey to discover ancient oriental traditions, Mediterranean music, jazz rhythms and much more.

 

Tickets are valid until the start time of the show or evening of your choice. Once the show has started, the reservation is canceled and access is no longer guaranteed.

PROGRAM:

8.15 pm – Second Cloister

Taiko Munedaiko. Percussionists of Japanese Taiko ritual drums will open the Genius Loci 2023 Festival.

8.45 pm – Refectory

Destini incrociati: ospitalità, ascolto e cura,  followed by the performance of Marco Balzano with music by Fabrizio Mocata, piano and Giulia Galliani, voice.

9.15 pm and 10.30 pm – Pazzi Chapel

Furio Di Castri. Musical performance by Furio Di Castri, famous double bass player and composer.

9.15 pm – Second Cloister

A talk with the actor and writer Roberto Mercadini Little boy: storia incredibile e vera della bomba atomica. Between history and current events, the writer tells how the tragic event in Hiroshima changed our view of the world.

9.15 pm – Refectory

Perse/phone, the show by Luigi Cinque, with Urna Chahar Tugki (vocals) and Stefano Saletti (oud, bouzouki, saz baglama). A journey from the Mediterranean to the deserts of Mongolia.

11.00 pm – Refectory

Khaled Levy Sings Chet Baker in Bossa Nova. The new solo project by Khaled Levy, lead singer of Selton, a Brazilian folk rock band, rediscovers Bossa Nova and experiments with its jazz potential.

 

The initiative is organised by the Controradio Club, the Opera di Santa Croce and Controradio, together with the cultural association La Nottola Di Minerva. This project is part of major exhibitions and festivals of the “Estate Fiorentina” organized by the Florence Municipality with the contribution of the Metropolitan City of Florence. “Genius Loci, discovering Santa Croce” is unique on the Italian scene.
